Kirifuri waterfall mounted print

The Chester Beatty exhibition Edo in Colour: Prints from Japan’s Metropolis showcases Japanese woodblock prints which were then an affordable art, printed by the thousand and consumed as fast as fashion demanded. They are also aesthetically rich and technically accomplished.

This mounted print features the artwork Kirifuri waterfall near Mount Kurokami, Shimotsuke (Shimotsuke Kurokamiyama Kirifuri no taki) from the series Tour of waterfalls in various provinces (Shokoku taki meguri) by Katsushika Hokusai.

This window mounted print is 16” x 12”, 40.64 x 30.48 cm, the print measures 31.5 x 21.5 cm.
