Plum garden at Kameido mounted print

The Chester Beatty exhibition Edo in Colour: Prints from Japan’s Metropolis showcases Japanese woodblock prints which were then an affordable art, printed by the thousand and consumed as fast as fashion demanded. They are also aesthetically rich and technically accomplished.

This mounted print features the artwork Plum garden at Kameido (Kameido umeyashiki) from the series 100 famous views of Edo (Meisho Edo hyakkei) by Utagawa Hiroshige.
