Iskandar marries Roshanak mounted print

The Chester Beatty exhibition Meeting in Isfahan explores this cosmopolitan urban centre of trade, ideas and visual culture.

This mounted print features the artwork Iskandar marries Roshanak, from the Book of Kings (Shāhnāma) by Firdausī, by artist Mu’in Musavvir. The poet Firdausi describes Iskandar’s conquests, including his defeat of the Iranian king Dara. Here Iskandar marries the Persian princess Roshanak at Istakhr, which is the name Firdausi uses for Persepolis.

This window mounted print measures (including mount) 12” x 10″ or 30.3 x 25.3 cm, the print measures 21.5 x 14 cm.
