Kneeling youth mounted print 12” x 10”
€9.95
The Chester Beatty exhibition Meeting in Isfahan explores this cosmopolitan urban centre of trade, ideas and visual culture.
This mounted print features the artwork Kneeling youth, attributed to Reẓā `Abbāsī (d. 1635). A young man holds out a small footed glass of red wine, to an unseen companion. The wine vessels and fruit suggest that a garden party is in progress, with willow and poplar trees painted in gold. The man’s dark red coat has a lavish gold design of songbirds. Reza’s signature floats just above the wine cup, offering the artwork as “work of the most humble Reza `Abbasi”.
This window mounted print measures (including mount) 12” x 10″ or 30.3 x 25.3 cm.
